With long two-stage barrel (old light pitting) rifled with seven grooves and retained by a brass barrel band stamped with an inspector's mark and linked to the side-plate, octagonal breech, plain tang with extension down the back of the butt, flat bevelled lock with faint traces of inscription, brass pan, figured half-stock stamped with indistinct circular arsenal mark on the side-flat, regulation brass mounts stamped with inspector's marks including rounded slightly beaked pommel incised 'H 74', and replacement steel ramrod
