With tapering blade of flattened hexagonal section etched and gilt with a panel of symmetrical strapwork on each side towards the forte, the latter etched and gilt over both sides with a cherub holding a heart suspended from a cord above an indecipherable French inscription, a panel of foliated strapwork above and below, hilt cast and chased with rocailles in low relief and comprising double shell-guard, quillon block, downscrolled arms, lobed rear quillon, knuckle-guard, globular pommel with button, and swelling grip
