A Continental carved giltwood and gesso wall mirror, circa 1790 - 1820, possibly Swedish, the rectangular plate within a moulded surround incorporating a beaded border, centred above by a twin handled flowering urn, flanked on either side by a hound on each side and a further scroll terminal at each upper corner, issuing bellflowers and with a Doric style capital surmount, 230cm high, 110cm wide overall

Condition Report:
Marks, scratches and abrasions comensurate with age and use. Old chips and splits. Some small losses. some old repairs. A lower terminal from the left hand handle of the ewer is lacking. The lead of the dog on the left hand side is largely lacking. Two of the small spherical pendant finials above the architectural capitals are old replacements, on other is lacking. Various old wear to the gilded surface. The gilded surface appears original. The rear panel appears original. The mirror plate appears original and bear some depletion in the form of black/ grey spotting in some areas (see images) Some old worm holes. These are fairly scattered and not causing fragmentary loss. The holes could fairly easily be filled and the gilding touched in sympathetically.
