A Continental sculpted ivory Corpus Christi
A Continental sculpted ivory Corpus Christi, circa 1900, probably French, mounted on a wrought iron Crucifix, with stepped circular section iron base
The ivory 21cm high, 13cm wide
The height overall 50.5cm
Condition Report: The corpus Christi bears the minor marks, knocks and scuffs overall consistent with age. The ivory shows significant yellowing and darkening to the loincloth and rear, and there are hairline splits (old) to the right hand side of the chest, loincloth and thigh/knee. These are stable.
There is a tiny chip to the edge of the loincloth drapery.
There are joining lines where the arms and shoulders meet, most probably a result of the sculptures manufacture.
The iron cross lifts off its base.
