A DAYAK MANDAU

Interesting, curved, single-edged blade with a groove on the back, pierced at the tip, the base with a curl, the back decorated with brass crossbars. Bone grip chiselled with small animals and floral motifs, the base with fiber wire binding; wooden scabbrd embossed with floral motifs and fiber bands. Impul, Iban-Dayak, probably Murut or Maloh, West Borneo (Sarawak).
