These pistols are listed on the manifests of arms sent to us by France during the Revolutionary War to supply our Continental Cavalry troops. This interesting pistol has probably been re-stocked during its period of use, most likely in America, due to its crude and heavy form and differing style of carving from standard French Models. The faceted breech section transitions to round other than a tapered top flat marked "DE POLLERESKY" towards the breech. The lock is unmarked and has a molding towards the tail section. Standard brass French Model 1733 style mounts. Stock appears to be walnut and has relief carved teardrops around barrel tang, ramrod entry ferrule, behind lock, and behind sideplate. CONDITION: Barrel retains a spotted grey patina with visible but lightly engraved markings. Lock is in its original flintlock configuration and retains a spotted brown patina. Cock is absent. Brass retains a pleasing soft mustard patina. Stock is dry and shows scattered marks from use, scattered small cracks, chips and bruises. Area above rear lock tang filled with old composite. Ramrod is absent. Barrel Length: 12 - 1/2" Caliber/Bore: .75 Smoothbore FFL Status: Antique Manufacturer: French Model: 1733 Dragoon Serial Number: NSN
