A DESIRABLE J.T. DICKMAN CLOWN SHOOTING GALLERY TARGET
The famous clown form cast iron shooting gallery target in old paint combination of aqua blue bust, red stocking cap, white face, white mask and red lips, one of approximately five of known, none have been found in this paint combination presumed to be original. Found in New Hampshire along with the matching Heart and Clubs playing card suit targets offered here as well (lots 114 and 115). Embossed lettering and numerals in the casting along the bottom front read PAT'D SEPT. 19. 1911 BY J.T. DICKMAN L.A. CAL. This is the only example the Tuckers have seen or heard of in their 30 years of collecting.
Pictured on page 8 of Dickman's 1921 Catalog E on Gallery No. 62, described on page 17 of that Catalog as being 'The Great Clown Target With the Bright Eye,' and pictured on the front cover of that Catalog.
