A David Wolff-Attributed Stipple Engraved Wine Glass

Circa 1789

the funnel bowl with a stipple-engraved forest and village scene, the opposite side with engraved inscription 'Dat Boekenroode in wel vaard groei gastvrijheid steeds haar grond bewoone en door den Mildsten hemebloei, de wenschen van Van Eys, Bekroone-1789' and raised on a facet cut stem.

Height 6 3/4 inches.

Property from a Private Collection European Furniture & Decorative Arts The foot rim trimmed. Description of glass in 1993 book by Smit (referenced in cataloguing) references 'two small chips to foot rim'. Chips no longer present. There are three small air bubbles at base of bowl near where the facet cutting begins, none of the bubbles reach surface of glass. No other significant condition issues noted. Additional images available upon request.
