A Dutch Colonial exotic hardwood and brass mounted cabinet, late 17th/early 18th century, on an associated George IV pine stand, circa 1830, the rectangular top above a pair of doors opening to an arrangement of ten drawers of various sizes, flanked by lion head cast brass side carrying handles, the stand with two long graduated drawers, on turned feet, 103cm high, 78cm wide, 50cm deepCondition Report: As catalogued, cabinet and stand are associated. Cabinet-Cabinet measures 63cm high, 71cm wide, 47cm deep. Marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Various old chips, splits and some losses. Some old repairs. Mounts with wear, dents, some elements misshapen and some losses. One corner mount is detached but present. One front corner mount is a later replacement. Lock plate and escutcheon are later replaced but have significant age. No key present. Hinges with some loose securing nails. The ebonised moulding to drawer fronts with areas of lifting and a section lacking. Side handles are possibly associated but of the period. No previous handles have sat on the sides and they are using old holes to the interior of the cabinet. Some later nails to backboards. Stand-Marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Old chips and splits.Various losses to surface (as illustrated). Handles appear original.
