Second Quarter Of The 18th Century
With tapering waved blade (some old wear and rust patination) of lightly flattened hexagonal section etched along nearly its entire length on both sides with a repeated design of foliage interrupted by suns-in-splendour, flower-heads, Classical busts, trophies of arms and a man-in-the-moon, the forte on both sides cut with a floret above Amsterdam maker's details, faceted steel hilt etched and gilt with tendrils in the cut and fluted decoration, and comprising downcurved shell-guard, baluster quillons with recurved lobed tips, the forward one linked to the pommel-cap by a knuckle-chain, and agate grip of tapering octagonal section with basal mount en suite
