A Dutch Marquetry Tall Case Clock with an English Movement by William Rider

London, 18th Century

the dial signed Wm. Rider London, with a label outlining provenance to the interior of the case.
Height 97 inches.

Property from the European Family Collection of a Pharmaceutical Executive and Venture Capitalist Clocks, Barometers & Scientific Instruments
The original movement replaced with a Rider English movement. Comes with pendulum, two weights, case key and two winding keys. The case and marquetry in very good, professionally conserved condition. A repaired age crack through the lower end of the trunk, and a small veneer loss on the base at the proper left side. Few other scuffs and very small, if any, veneer repairs, as is normal. Older damage and repair to the veneer and marquetry along the lower edge of the hood's door frame. The brass face with a somewhat dull, dirty patina. The movement accepts winding and runs, but the movement does not strike when the hands are advanced manually. Not tested for duration or accuracy of timekeeping.
