Made by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in the third year of production. Roughly 22,000 of these rare second model guns were made. Standard 28" round blued barrel with two-line Winchester address and "CAL 45-60" marking at breech. Barrel fit with standard 42A rear sporting sight and No. 21 sheared blade front sight. Case hardened frame with blued loading gate and early style thumb print dust cover with screwed guide rail. Action has plain trigger, case hardened lever and hammer, "Model 1876" marked tang, "45-60" marked brass elevator and full-length blued magazine tube. Plain factory walnut stocks with case hardened crescent steel buttplate with trapdoor containing a factory 5-piece cleaning rod. Comes with Cody Research confirming configuration and manufacturing date. CONDITION: One of the finest second model rifles in existence with 98%+ barrel blue with light handling marks. 98%+ vivid action and lever case colors fading to an aged appearance. 98% stock finish with light bumps and bruises. Excellent bore and mechanics. A must for the high-condition collector.
