A Exhibition Silver Electrotype Mantel Clock in an highly decorative figural case designed by John Bell (1811-1895) for Elkington Mason & Co, Birmingham 1853, with a roundel badge to the back stamped 'ELECTRO DEPOSITED & PUBLISHED BY ELKINGTON MASON & CO APRIL 1853' The case of shaped triangular sculptural form, surmounted by the figure of Psyche; her arms crossed over her chest and eyes cast heavenward above a ring of sinuous classical figures in bas-relief encircling the dial, with two further figures symbolising 'Night', a woman in repose, and 'Morning', a man waking reclining on the rocky base. 14½'' (37 cm) high, 11'' (28 cm) wide, 6'' (15 cm) deep.
