A FAMILLE VERTE ROULEAU VASE, QING
China, 19th century. Finely painted in crisp yellow and aubergine enamels against a lustrous green ground with a pair of pheasants and quails amid other birds, flowers, butterflies and rockwork.
Condition: Fine condition with only minor wear. One chip to inner foot rim. Some firing imperfections and minor kiln grit.
Provenance: The Priory, Walsham-le-Willows. Built in 1902 by John Martineau, the priory was conceived as a “room for meetings in connection with the church” and furnished with antiques of all sorts. Illegible collector’s inscription in black ink to base, next to a faded inventory label.

The recessed base with a white glaze, bearing an apocryphal Kangxi six-character mark within a double circle. The foot rim is unglazed.
