A FIGURED WALNUT AND FEATHER BANDED BACHELOR'S CHEST OF DRAWERS IN GEORGE II STYLE, INCORPORATING SOME PERIOD ELEMENTS With fold over top and brass side carrying handles 74cm high, 76cm wide, 34cm deep (when closed)Condition Report: Please note, this lot should be catalogued as 'A FIGURED WALNUT AND FEATHER BANDED BACHELOR'S CHEST OF DRAWERS, IN GEORGE II STYLE, INCORPORATING SOME PERIOD ELEMENTS' and not as originally printed in the catalogue. Marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Various chips, splits and losses. Some fading to timber in places. Various veneer repairs and filler used in places. There are small plugged holes visible to drawer fronts from where previous handles and escutcheons sat. These are in unusual position as the the timber of the drawer fronts are from another chest and have been adapted to fit this piece. No key present, all locks are open. Dimensions of the piece excluding the top: 69.5cm high, 75cm wide outer edges of feet, 34cm deep outer edges of feet. The drawers run freely; the bottom drawer is slightly bowed so that it is not quite flush with the front.The hinges are intact, the top gives a slight 'snap' as it is opened as the wooden knob rubs against the corresponding recess.There is evidence of old worm.Drawers run freely, runner have been waxed to assist this. Hinges to top are sound. There is no evidence of previous breaks in these areas. Please refer to additional images for visual reference to condition and construction.
