A FINE 1830s FORESTVILLE MFG. TRIPLE DECKER SHELF CLOCK

The above average example in nice, original condition is topped by a deeply carved mahogany crest between two roundel blocks above two full Corinthian columns either side of the the top door which opens to a wood dial hand painted in raised gold enamels and Arabic numerals in black. The lower portion of the door is original with reverse painted scene on glass resembling Washington's home at Mt. Vernon.

The lower door with a similar hand painted and original reverse painted scene is inlaid with a bone escutcheon. Behind the door inside the lower cabinet is the original maker's label stating in part Improved Eight-Day Brass Clocks Made By the Forrestville Manufacturing Company Bristol Conn. Warranted If Well Used.

Measures 37.75 x 17.75 x 5.5 inches.
