A FINE KURDISH DAGGER
A large and distinctive example, the grip carved of ebony and elaborately mounted in gilded and filigreed silver and set with 10 corals and other gems. The blade curved and double-edged, with a pronounced central ridge, and wrought of fine, actively-grained Persian black wootz. The scabbard with gilded and filigreed silver locket set with five corals and an other gem en suite with the hilt, and covered in gold and blue-embroidered silk with gilt finial. Beginning of the 19th century. Worn, minor areas of pitting to blade. Overall length 46.7 cm / 18 1/2". Condition II
