A fine pair of Lepage over and under barreled pistols

dating: second quarter of the 19th Century provenance: France, Twisted, two-stage, 18 mm cal. barrels, octagonal at the base and faceted, featuring remains of the antique finishing; the upper barrel provide with a small foresight at the back and the signature 'F.ni PAR LEPAGE'; between the barrel a rib on each side, on the right one two ramrod holders and the iron ramrod. The tang entirely engraved with floral motifs and provided with a wide sight. Elegant percussion locks, with backward spring, plate with an engraved frame at the margin and a cartouche at the centre featuring the signature 'F.ni PAR LE LEPAGE', floral motifs all around; the hammers finely decorated with floral pattern on the neck. The nipples on strongly relieved bases placed on the sides of the barrels and provided with quadrangular spark arrester. Briarwood butts with fine veins (one slightly restored), checkered grip. Iron mounts; the trigger guard finely engraved with floral motifs en suite with the ones on the hammers and the locks, slightly relieved at the borders; roundish butt-plates engraved with a frame at the border and a flower at the centre, both provided with a loop. length 32 cm.
