An excellent example of characteristic form, the intricately-carved ebony grip with applied profiled and engraved silver plaques in elaborate scrollwork motifs. The gilded forte inlaid with silver and intricately profiled at the cutting edge en suite. The broad, single-edged blade inlaid for much of its surface with embossed and engraved silver. In its carved wooden scabbard with long embossed and engraved silver locket. Latter 18th century. Blade with age toning and minor pitting, minor loss to silver spine. Overall length 27cm/ 10.62".
