Gigantopectens restitutensis (size of fossil: 38 x 18 cm, 41 cm tall on stand), Burdigalien, early Miocene (20-16 million years ago). An elegant, baroque presentation on a gilt wood base.

Fossilized scallops (Gigantopectens restitutensis), also known as Saint-Jacques shells, are found in the carbonate platforms of the Miocene epoch. This very fine and delicate piece of natural art presents an accumulation of fossils adhered to a block of limestone.
