(A) FLINTLOCK KENTUCKY RIFLE SIGNED PETER KUNTZ, DATED

Flint lock Kentucky made by Peter Kuntz of North Whitehall, Lehigh County Pennsylvania who worked from 1817 to 1861. Smoothbore octagon barrel with blade front sight and notched rear sight. Barrel signed in script "P K" for Peter Kuntz. Floral engraving with German silver band at breech. Reproduction two bolt flint lock marked "London" and controlled by a single trigger. Curly maple full stock with brass hardware including a nicely engraved floral patchbox of Lehigh style with two oval piercings and third piercing in the finial. Gun has 4 inlays including a brass "Liberty Cap" inlay in front of the trigger, German silver inlay of a face with two horse heads (Resembles George Washington) on the cheek, Engraved German silver thumbpiece and a brass plaque on the toe that's marked "1852". Toe release in butt with engraved face for patchbox. A very "folksy" rifle. Comes with original hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: Overall good condition with replaced lock and barrel converted to flint. Small crack on left side from buttplate to the cheekpiece. Some replaced wood around lock near tang. A pleasing rifle with dark bore. Trigger mechanism is a little sticky along with patchbox mechanism.
