A FRENCH LOUIS XV STYLE GILT BRASS MANTEL CLOCKUnsigned, Paris, late 19th centuryThe circular eight-day countwheel bell striking movement with anchor escapement incorporating Brocot type regulation to the suspension and stamped with serial number 29314 to the upper left of the backplate over 8, 1 to lower margin, the circular silvered cast brass cartouche numeral dial with five-petal relief cast flowerhead to centre and Arabic five minutes within the outer minute track, with blued steel spade and moulded surround set behind hinged bead cast bevel-glazed bezel, the case with twin handled urn surmount over drum housing the movement applied with a ribbon bow crest and supported on a fluted column pedestal flanked by generous openwork side scrolls joined by a husk swag, the base with two-tier laurel cast bands to the curved central section flanked by rectangular rosette decorated projections over toupe feet, with a pair of small columns candlestick sidepieces, late 19th century, (3).The clock 42cm (16.25ins) high, 28cm (11ins) wide, 14cm (5.5ins) high; the candlesticks 15cm (6ins) high.
