A Fabergé 14k gold and carved ruby pill box

Of serpentine form, the bi-coloured body finely chased with rocailles and flowerheads, the hinged lid set with a foliate carved ruby cabochon (ca. 22 x 14 mm). The edge of the lid and the push-button set with rose-cut diamonds. Finely engraved to the interior in the Rococo taste. In the original birchwood case, the silk lining stamped in Cyrillic "Fabergé St. Petersburg, Moscow, London". Stamped (to the underside and edge of the lid: St. Petersburg city hallmark with fineness 56 zolotnik, before 1896, cyrillic company mark "Fabergé" and "MP". Two French import stamps from 1892 (Tardy 163). The ruby chipped to one corner. 2.2 x 4 x 3 cm. Weight 25.2 g.
