A Fabergé gold and strawberry red enamel miniature egg with anchors
marked with cyrillic "KF" to bale and to suspension ring, circa 1900
Of typical form, the strawberry red guilloché enamel egg surrounded by a rose gold cage mount in the form of two anchors.

This design, and a myriad of variations on its theme, were acquired by members of the Imperial family with naval backgrounds. Grand Duke Vladimir and Grand Duke Kirill each gave their wives anchor-related gifts. Grand Duke Alexander Mikhailovich is known to have given his wife Grand Duchess Xenia a number of jeweled miniature egg pendants with naval motifs.
A similar egg in gold-mounted purpurine is in the American trade, and a virtually identical egg in enamel by workmaster August Holmström was sold Sotheby's, New York, April 16, 2013, lot 58.
