the rectangular porcelain plaque painted to the front showing two horses in a riverscape scene, signed Zhang Zhitang, followed by an artists seal, set in a hongmu frame and stand carved with a panel showing an equestrian scene, above shaped aprons joining the four feet flanked by standing spandrels pierced and carved with sinuous kuilongs.
Height overall 27 1/2 x width 19 1/4 in., 69.85 x 48.9 cm Chinese Decorative Arts
The plaque in good stable condition, showing surface scratches and some rubbing. Not removed from the frame to examine reverse. The frame stable, though soiling. The reverse with small fractures and minor loss to one frame fastener.
