A Federal inlaid mahogany two-part dining table, New York, NY, circa 1820

Comprised of two demilune ends, each with drop leaf, on tapered reeded legs ending in brass ball sabots, accompanied by extra leaf and six brass cleats.

H: 29 in. W: 83 ¾ in. D: 55 7/8 in. (without extra leaf), W: 105 ¼ in. (including extra leaf)

Provenance

Collection of a Virginia gentleman.
Condition Report: lot 80: probably refinished; the table probably had a central section originally, and the leaf is somewhat darker than the rest of the table and probably later; the underside of the tops with later support mechanisms installed to support the drop leaves; the brass clips and cleats are later, with evidence of previous ones installed to underside of leaves; one end with three legs having repaired breaks to upper part; the flies with cutaway sections; some of the support blocks appear to be replaced and/or reattached; the apron with some occasional splitting to veneer commensurate with age and use; the top with some minor occasional scratches and stains commensurate with use; one leg with an abrasion along lower part of reeding
