The renowned Beverly Hills jeweller, William Ruser, started his jewellery career working for Trabert & Hoeffer-Mauboussin in Atlantic City. After serving his duty during World War II, Ruser and his wife, Pauline, opened their own jewellery store on the famous Rodeo Drive Beverly Hills in 1947. Their jewellery quickly became sought-after by many Hollywood stars for his wonderfully designed pieces featuring pavé-set diamonds and gemstones. He developed a style which is still treasured today by vintage and retro jewellery collectors. The couple closed the shop in 1969, whereupon the property was sold to Van Cleef and Arpels, which remains in the same location to this day.
