With finely twist rebrowned sighted barrels signed in full in capitals along the rib and each rifled with five bright spiral grooves, reblued fore-sight and folding-leaf back-sights, the latter each with central platinum line, border engraved case-hardened breeches each with platinum plug and a profile tiger's head on the flat between, foliate scroll engraved case-hardened tang, case-hardened serial numbered detented locks each signed in capitals and decorated with foliate scrollwork borders, one with a lion on the tail and the other with a tiger, each signed 'J. GRAINGER' on the inside and the mechanisms retaining their burnished finish, hammers of Purdey type, decorated with foliate scrollwork and each with blued safety-stop in front, highly figured half-stock with cheekpiece, chequered grip and fore-end, border engraved blued steel mounts comprising foliate scroll engraved butt-plate (loss of finish), serial numbered trigger-guard with chequered spur and decorated with an elephant in a landscape, the branch of a tree in its trunk, trigger-plate with a circular arrangement of feathering above scrolling foliage, engraved barrel-bolt escutcheons, rear ramrod-pipe en suite with the trigger-plate, sling mounts, original brass-mounted ramrod, and retaining much of its blued and case-hardened finish: in original brass-mounted oak case fitted and lined in blue baize with a few accessories including its leather sling, the interior of the lid with maker's illustrated trade label (worn), the exterior with circular vacant brass escutcheon centred on a flush-fitting brass carrying handle, London proof marks
