Three-part Baroque style pendant of fine foliate filigree design with bi-coloured rose appliques. Set with small rose-cut diamonds and three rose-cut diamonds in foiled gold settings. With two bails for a ribbon on the reverse. Not hallmarked. The bails are a later addition. L 7.5 cm. W 4.5 cm.

This folkloric pendant, called "Croix à Papillon" or "Croix à la Jeannette", was very common in the Flemish part of Belgium at the end of the 18th century. However, the type can also be found in the Netherlands and northern France.
