Of regulation pattern, with blade double-edged towards the point, the forte on one side stamped with an inspector's mark, brass hilt of three bars swept up towards the knuckle-guard, the latter stamped 'VERSAILLES', and with inspector's mark 'C', a star above, brass pommel-cap, and cord-bound leather-covered grip (leather perished and incomplete), in its steel scabbard indistinctly numbered on the upper suspension mount, and with two rings for suspension
