The underside signed and dated 'Jean Renoir. 21' in manganese. Two small chips to the edge of the base. H 24.3 cm.
Jean Renoir, 1921.
Before beginning his long and successful career as a film maker, Pierre-Auguste Renoirs' second son worked as a ceramic artist prior to WWI. Cf. a similarly designed vase in the Barnes Collection, inv. no. 01.13.16.
Cf. Both pieces with similar decor, 1920 - 22 in the Musée d´art moderne de La Ville de Troyes (cat. Céramique d´artiste, Milan 2012, no. 237).
