The first of regulation pattern, with bright skull and brass mounts including embossed crest with Medusa head at the front, the former with later black horsehair, the latter surmounted by a red brush, the plate embossed with a flaming grenade between laurel, chin-strap with brass scales embossed with laurel, adjustable leather liner, and red, white and blue feather plume on the left side; the second with flanged edges bordered by hooks and rivets with domed brass heads, the interior etched with Klingenthal manufactory details and 'No. 266' (2)
