A French Gilt Bronze-Mounted Mahogany Commode à Vantaux after the Model by Joseph Stöckel and Guillaume Benneman, early 20th century 38-1/2 x 75 x 28-1/2 inches (97.8 x 190.5 x 72.4 cm) The commode with six drawers behind heavy doors fronted by a bronze Bacchanal medallion surrounded by foliate mounts below three drawers; the chest supported on squat bottle legs extending upward to fluted columns at each corner; two large bronze medallions to side panels depicting goddess with putti at play with double beveled variegated white marble top shaped to crown corner columns.

Condition Report: Sprung bronze mounts to exterior drawers, splintered back panels, misaligned interior drawers with damaged stops, severe damage with loss to right door verso, nicking and scratches throughout, repaired break with flakes, fleabites and surface stains to marble top.
