A French Provincial Carved Walnut Armoire
probably brittany, early 19th century
having a cavetto cornice with egg-and-dart and dentiled bands above the frieze carved to show flowering vines in relief and centered with a basket pierce carved to show oak leaves and two birds flanking a bunch of grapes, the conforming case fitted with two similarly carved doors opening to a shelved interior, raised on short legs carved to show rocaille and terminating in scrolled toes.
Height 87 3/4 x width 51 x depth 19 1/2 inches.

Good condition. Half of basket crest detached but present. Scuffs, discolorations, minor worming, scratches consistent with age. Attractive overall.
