A French Silver-Gilt and Clear Glass Scent-Bottle, With French Control Mark for Small Articles, Late 19th century, Retailed by John Mall, Manchester, tapering, the clear glass body with silver-gilt lattice-work overlay, engraved with two initials, the foot and base with fruiting grapevines, the hinged cover similarly decorated, in fitted case, the scent bottle 10.5cm high
Condition Report:
. Marked on cover with French control mark. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the high points. The glass is damaged under the top mount, though this is not immediately visible. There have been some possible repairs to the side seams and the seam is slightly opening up on one side near the base. There are some scuffs to the case.
