A French carved giltwood and composition salon suite in Louis XV style, 19th century and recently upholstered with blue silk damask, comprising; a pair of sofas, set of four elbow chairs, and a set of four side chairs, the backs each headed with lion masks and the show frames with carved leaf and fruit decoration (10)

Condition Report:
Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions consistent with age and use, the gilt surface worn in places revealing underlying composition beneath, Old splits and cracks and joints opening up, there are also old chips and losses to extremities of carved decoration, some minor to tips some more significant decoration - these all appear to be old with darker timber showing through - Dreweatts do not have any additional elements to aid the restoration. As catalogued the upholstery appears fairly recent, however it is not free from faults - there is surface dirt, staining, wear and some tears in places. The sofas each with a later central leg fitted to the rails to added support - possibly added at the time of the upholstering The frames with signs of old woodworm holes - although this does not appear to be live Dreweatts make no guarentees and it may be worth having the items proffesionally treated prior to use in a domestic setting The frames apper solid and stable overall Please refer to additional images for visual reference to condition
