A French champlevé enamel and gilt metal box in the Orientalist taste, circa 1880, of canted rectangular form, the hinged lid, front back and sides with polychrome enamelled panels with octagonal stars and Arabesque foliate patterns, on cast scrolling foliate feet, 11 cm high, 18 cm wide, 12.5 cm deep
An example of a similar box on cast scrolling feet in the Orientalist taste was sold at Christie's London, 19th Century Furniture, Sculpture, Works of Art and Ceramics, 19 March 2008, lot 186. That elaborate example was by G. Servant.
