A French pair of chiselled deluxe oriental pistols for the oriental market, circa 1810/20
Beschreibung: Round, single-stepped barrels with cannon muzzles. Smooth bores in 16 mm calibre. The upper sides of the barrels in the front half richly decorated with gold inlays. At the breeches floral décor chiselled in relief on finely punched gold ground. Flintlocks with frizzens on rollers. Three-dimensional trophies and tendrils underlaid in gold. The lock plates with indistinct signature "Jacques Lamiouc" (?). Gold-plated pans, gold-lined vent holes. Full stocks of ebonised wood with flowers richly inlaid in silver filigree. Small chips in the stock wood, one pistol with replacement on the left side of the forestock. Furniture of partly gilt silver richly decorated in relief with blossoms and trophies. The trigger guards marked "LONDON". Wooden ramrods with silver tips. Length of each 50 cm. A pair of pistols of unusually elaborate craftsmanship.
