A French silver wine taster, of plain circular form with applied ring handle and personally engraved to the side, 'L Guerin'. Three struck marks below the rim including a possible Paris discharge mark circa 1788, other two marks indistinct, further partly distorted mark to base, probably a maker's mark. Rim diameter 3" (7.5cm), length including handle 4" (10cm), weight 1.91 ozt (59.5 grams).
Condition Report:
- Displaying some general expected surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing in keeping with the age and use.
- Some minor surface nicks, cracks and pitting marks to some areas.
- Residues of sticky labels to the underside.
- The scratch engraving of 'L Guerin' appears clear and legible and fairly crisp.
- The other struck marks are heavily worn and rubbed.
- The letters D and N are visible in the mark on the underside.
