A GEORGE I WALNUT AND CROSSBANDED SIDE TABLECIRCA 1725Of small proportions69cm high, 69cm wide, 45cm deepCondition Report: Table with marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Various old chips, splits and losses. Some fading and water marks to timber. Some additional dark marks and ring marks to top. Evidence of old worm. Metalware are 18th century replacements. The handle and escutcheon back palates have an oxidised/mottled surface. No key present, but lock is open. Some lifting and warping of veneers. Later blocks and drawer runners to interior of carcass. Various later blocks and glue residue where the legs meet the body of the table. The legs are possibly original and have been crudely re-attached. The legs are of the period.
