A GEORGE II GILTWOOD PIER TABLE, IN THE MANNER OF WILLIAM KENT, PROBABLY LATE 19TH CENTURY
with a grey marble top, raised on a later moulded giltwood plinth
height 36 in.; width 56 in.; depth 27 in.

Condition Report:
Gilding in good condition with usual scattered marks, rubbing and small losses, including a small loss on the upper proper left corner of central shell, visible in catalgoue photo, and the paw feet. Joints sturdy, with a few age cracks in legs. A few traces of green paint on one back leg and the plinth. Carved acanthus scroll swag on proper left side with previous repaired breaks and visible glue residue; two pieces have now becomed detached again and will require re-glueing, but this is straightforward and all parts present. Marble top with small scattered chips and some repaired cracks, this is well done and not readily noticeable.
