by John Eckford II, London 1729, additional tax mark for Nice, c.1814, and a further later tax mark, of plain tapering form with a reeded foot and faceted spout, the cover with a baluster finial, engraved with an armorial. 24cm high, 29 troy ounces gross

The marks are clear and well-struck to both the base and the cover. The handle is also marked, although these marks are slightly rubbed. The knop to the cover is marked. The handle is sturdy, and the cover closes flush. The hinge is in good order. The engraved crests have now lost some definition. Stands flush and does not rock. Minor bruising to the body commensurate with age.
