A GEORGE II WALNUT CHEST OF DRAWERSCIRCA 174092cm high, 99cm wide, 55cm deepCondition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. some old worm damageNatural/ sun Fading overall. The colour could be enriched/ darkened by an experienced restorer/ polisher if required. old splits, chips and some losses, some old repairs including to top central edge of top drawer and central area of lower frieze. (please refer to images) Handles, locks and escutcheons are replacements but are 18th century. There are alternate holes from the original handles to the interior of the drawer fronts and there are shadows from the original handles to the exterior of the drawer fronts and small filled holes are visible there also. Attention by a skilled restorer/ polisher could noticeably improve the appearance of this also. No key present. The rear panels and feet are original. The drawers run well. The drawer linings are oak. Some parts of the paper linings are stuck down but will be easily removable. The vertical gap to the centre of each side panel caused by shrinkage have old 'repair' with a slender fillet of timber to each.Well figured attractive timbers throughout exterior that would benefit from attention by an experienced restorer/ polisher of antique furniture.
