A GEORGE IV MAHOGANY WINE CISTERN CIRCA 1830, ATTRIBUTED TO GILLOWS The moulded and lobed body with a fluted foot50cm high, 65cm diameter, together with a simulated porphyry fluted pedestal column 110cm highProvenance: Supplied by Robert KimeCondition Report: Both the cistern and the pedestal with marks, knocks, scratches, and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Wine Cistern:Various scuffs, knocks, and chips. The upper section of the cistern is not connected to the stem and is siting loose in position. The lead lining to the interior with some tears, oxidisation, and wear. Opening to many of the joins (see images). Filler had been applied to help disguise this in places. Various later securing screws to the underside. Old glued split through the centre of the stem (see images)/ Simulated porphyry pedestal:Various chips, splits and losses (see images).
