[ translate ]

A GOEBEL WHITE ON SAGE GREEN JASPERWARE ART PLAQUE, GERMAN, MARKED, 1923-1949, modeled after the Jean Francois Millet (French 1814-1875) painting, "The Gleaners," of rectangular form and centering three maiden peasants gleaning wheat stalk scraps left in the fields after harvesting, before a hazy distant harvest filled wagon and other toiling peasants amidst a bucolic landscape, white on a sage green bisque ground, verso raised molding marks crowned monogram "WG," above "W.N. 602. B.," within a giltwood frame. Height: 4 1/4" Width: 7 1/2"
Condition Report: Good condition with normal surface buildup and possibly the standing maiden's wheat stalks end tip is chipped but difficult to discern. The giltwood frame has old touchups, some scratches and surface buildup in crevices throughout. Simpson Galleries strongly encourages in-person inspection of items by the bidder. Statements by Simpson Galleries regarding the condition of objects are for guidance only and should not be relied upon as statements of fact and do not constitute a representation, warranty, or assumption of liability by Simpson Galleries. All lots offered are sold "AS IS.” NO REFUNDS will be issued based on condition.
