A GOLD AND SILVER-EMBROIDERED BLUE-GROUND DRAGON ROBE, LATE QING DYNASTY

The robe is worked in couched gold and silver threads with eight writhing five-clawed dragons confronting flaming pearls against a ground of ruyi-form clouds interspersed with bats and the bajixiang auspicious symbols, all above roiling waves and lishui border.
84 1/2 x 56 1/2 in. (214.6 x 143.5 cm.)

CONDITION REPORT:

We have sought to record changes in the condition of this piece acquired after its initial manufacture.
-The robe appears to be in overall good condition for its age.
-There is fraying to the bottom hem.
-There is staining to the threads.
-There are a few faint stains on the lower left of the robe.
-The robe is slightly faded.
-The sleeve extension and the border of the edge of the sleeves appear to be later addition.
-The button loops may also be later addition.
-The robe may have been later tailored, which is common for its type.
