rectangular, the oval lid painted en plein with Elizabeth Woodville, Queen Dowager of Edward IV delivering up her son Prince Richard, Duke of York (1473-1483) to Cardinal Thomas Bourchier (1404-1486) Archbishop of Canterbury, after an engraving by Francesco Bartolozzi, from the painting by Giovanni Battista Cipriani (1727-1785), within a pearl frame, the ground, sides and base engine-turned within chased and dark blue-enamelled foliate borders, hinged key compartments, the lid opening to reveal the unusually-large dancing and singing feathered bird with ivory beak, on an engine-turned ground, key wound chain fusee movement with sliding cam stack to control the bellows and singing, petit barillet musical movement in the right side of the box, maker's mark, Geneva town mark, unofficial 3e titre, the movement unsigned
