A GREEN AND RUSSET JADE ‘CHILONG AND BIRD’ SNUFF BOTTLE, QING DYNASTY 清代玉雕螭龍鳥紋鼻烟壺
China, 18th-19th century. Accurately hollowed, of flattened ovoid form, rising from a thick oval foot to a broad cylindrical neck. Carved in relief with a chilong, skillfully utilizing the russet shading of the stone, and a bird perched on a rocky outpost, both under a small crescent moon.
Provenance: A private collection in the United Kingdom.
Condition: Very good condition with minor wear, microscopic nicks, the stone with natural fissures, some of which have developed into small hairline cracks, one such hairline at the neck embellished with incision work.
