A GROUP OF FIVE WOOD SCULPTURES OF ANCESTORS
China, Ming dynasty, Chongzhen period, dated to 1635

The five sculptures representing a family group composed of two male and three female figures, each sitting on a small bench, on the back of all an incised inscription that identifies the family with the name of Chang and dates the sculptures to the eighth year of the reign of Emperor Chongzhen (reign 1627-1644), corresponfing to 1635.
