A GROUP OF SIX JADE CARVINGS, 18TH-19TH CENTURY

The first is a greyish-green jade plaque carved with two cat fish. The second is a greyish-green jade belt buckle carved in relief with a Buddhist lion grasping a brocade ball with its young on its back, now with a metal mount as a clip. Third is a reticulated white jade plaque carved in openwork with two characters reading ji xiang (good fortune) in the center, now with a metal mount as a brooch. The fourth is a white jade plaque carved with a butterfly on one side and a bat grasping a peach branch on the reverse. Fifth is a rectangular jade plaque carved in openwork with a xi character (happiness) in the center, now with a metal mount as a clip. Last is a white jade plaque carved in openwork with a bird, lotus blossom and lotus root.
First: 2 5/8 in. (6.7 cm.) wide
Second: 3 1/2 in. (8.9 cm.) wide
Third: 2 1/4 in. (5.7 cm.) diam.
Fourth: 3 3/8 in. (8.6 cm.) wide
Fifth: 2 5/8 in. (6.7 cm.) wide
Sixth: 3 in. (7.6 cm.) diam.

CONDITION REPORT:
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

We have sought to record changes in the condition of these piece acquired after their initial manufacture.
First:
-The carving appears to be in good overall good condition for its age except some light surface wear.

Second:
-There is a crack to the Buddhist lion's face, possibly due to carving.
-There is a crack to the reverse side and another short crack extending from the edge.
-The underside has not been fully inspected due to mounting.
-There is wear and tarnishing to the metal mounting.

Third:
-There is a short crack to the underside.
-There is wear and tarnishing to the metal mounting.

Fourth:
-There is a chip to the antenna of the butterfly.
-There are two knocks to the edges with associated stained cracks.
-There are some fissures and inclusions, which are inherent to the stone.

Fifth:
-There are a few carving flaws.
-There is a small minor loss to the top side of the carving.
-The underside has not been fully inspected due to mounting
-There is wear and tarnishing to the mounting.

Sixth:
-There are a few minute chips and nicks to the edges and extremities.
-There is a small carving flaw near one leaf.
